Or another way to say is that prescribers aren't held to any level of ethics in writing these scripts.

I think it is true that many simple ADHD checklist are very subjective, but I think it is too parternalistic to say people are "faking" to get meds. I think it just points to the fact that nothing is a good substitute for taking a good history from multiple settings before arriving at a conclusion.
The sad part is that the system doesnt always allow for that to happen. Idealistically I like to get reports from the school and the family before deciding on a treatment plan. What may look like ADHD may be depression or anxiety or in bad cases abuse. It hardly ever is black or white.
But the flip side of that coin is sometimes it is. ADHD is a true medical condition that some people have.
