A coroner's jury determined Sara Carlin died after hanging herself while "affected by depression, cocaine and ethanol (alcohol)."

The jury also recommended doctors:

•Give patients full physical exams prior to prescribing SSRIs.

•Request lab investigations, including drugs screens, where appropriate.

•Inform patients of reasonable alternative treatments and the benefits and risks of those remedies.

•There be heightened monitoring of patients for adverse drug-related reactions during the first three months that SSRIs are prescribed.

Paxil? Absolutely! There is direct statistical correlation between the use of Paxil along with other anti-depressants with teen suicides and random teen violence. Scratch the surface of any teen shooting spree and you will find anti-depressant treatment. Certainly cocaine and alcohol are also culprits. The illusion is that these prescribed drugs are any different.
Is there any difference between telling a teen to use Paxil or cocaine to deal with the negative emotions that naturally arise from encountering problems in life?
Remember folks - heroin was developed and sold by Bayer as a wonder drug and was being prescribed up until the 1920's as a "legitamate" medication...
