How many children will it take before the LA County Department of Children and Family Services can collectively pull their heads out of their asses and START PROTECTING CHILDREN.

10?

20?

30?

100?

If I was an employee of this Dept. seeing the ineptitude and negligence on a DAILY basis, let alone the deaths that have occurred just in the last 2 years, AND NOT TAKING A WHISTLE-BLOWING position-

I don't know HOW any of them could sleep at night and get up and go to work the next day.

Knowing they are part of a half-assed, lack luster, inept, inadequate CHILD ABUSING county agency.

A horrible tragedy. It is hard to know how many die because of lack of coordination and lack of information access and flow. It is hard to know how many are saved by what little coordination is there. How we treat our children, shows what kind of a country and people we are. This poor child was in such misery and pain. He reached out desperately for help. No one was really there.

Yet another LA county child death due to DCFS ineptitude

I think this is inaccurate bordering on cruel. I have known many social workers within the system who care so much for these children. Iv'e seen them with broken hearts, busted up marriages, eventual mental health problems of their own because of frustration and a system that won't let them do their jobs. I am not referring to small percentage of those who just view it as a "9-5 job", I am referring to those who hurt as these children hurt when the system fails them both. I am not saying there were not mistakes made, but to call them all inept is just so unfair. Their caseloads are tremendous with the cutbacks and insufficient computer access. The death of this boy is tragic as are the deaths of all the children who fell through the cracks. Other agencies could and should have monitored the POS that was not supposed to be in the home. How many out there have suspected abuse of a child but do not want to get involved because of the possible inconvenience it may cause them? There are more than you might realize. The Dugard case is a prime example. How do neighbors for 18 years not see red flags in her case?

Unfair? REALLY? Is it unfair to the Montebello fifth-grader?

The kids killed a couple of months ago in an unapproved foster home put there by a DCFS who contracted with an approval agency they couldn't supervise properly?

Was it unfair to the 2 year old beaten to death after a home visit by the DCFS last year failed to remove her and protect her from the boyfriend she was given to by her abusive mother?

Or the children the year before that?

Or the foster children psychiatrically medicate to "supervise them" better. All because the Dept has a "Dr Phil" wannabe more interested in his public career than serving the kids, as a chief physician. How much pharma kick back is unfair to him?

And we haven't even touched on the children who languish in the system until they are 18 only to be ejected basically onto the streets because the Dept. couldn't properly prepare them for life as an adult.

      Is it unfair to them?

Until EVERY social worker starts blowing whistles and exposing the abuse and graft in the system, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR HOW HARD THEIR JOB IS.

OR HOW MUCH THEY TAKE IT HOME.

OR HOW ITS EFFECTED THEIR LIVES.

      THEY STILL HAVE THEIRS.

There isn't ANY justification for a two year old beaten to death. Or a 5th graders SUICIDE.

I believe I pointed out for all the bad ones, there are good ones but you never hear about them. They are the ones who hurt and suffer for all the angels who never make it. So please don't make me out to be the bad guy because I defend the good over the bad. I have seen them first hand. People only want to focus on the bad ones and by doing so they degrade the ones who do care, do try, and do succeed.
